The Angry Beavers - "Born to be Beavers / Up All Night"

Notes:

"Born to be Beavers" and "Up All Night" are the first episodes of The Angry Beavers which premiered on April 19, 1997 as Nickelodeon's seventh Nicktoon. While the series is thought to have formally ended on Nick in 2001, the episodes "Driving Misses Daggett" and "Big Fun" had their premiere on the network during a U-Pick Live "Head to Head" event on November 11, 2003. Additionally, several other Season 3 and 4 episodes premiered exclusively on sister-channel Nicktoons throughout 2006. So when did The Angry Beavers really end? It's up to you.

I don't tend to record NickRewind (or its previous iterations) very often because it's typically a cycle of the same four or five Nicktoons for months on end. Generally Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, Rocko's Modern Life, CatDog and Ren & Stimpy. All of which I like, but you can only watch the same episodes so many times. On rare occasions, however, NickRewind tends to pull programming from out of their hat that makes me think, "Hey! I outta record this."

The Angry Beavers has always been one of my favorite cartoons from the Nickelodeon lineup, but unfortunately NickRewind has never been keen to rerun it since its inception as The '90s Are All That back in 2011. The show didn't start running until February 2013 and aired very sporadically from that point forward as the block evolved into The Splat and later NickSplat. It later returned to the block in April 2017 in celebration of the series' 20th anniversary before vanishing from television for years. That's why in the early hours of February 27, 2021 I fired up the VCR and recorded what was the first airing of the Beavers in nearly four years! Surprisingly, the show continued to air weekly on the block until April 17. I'm not sure when it'll be back but seeing as the network has been so scarce with it in the past, we may not see it again on the airwaves until later in the '20s.
